My comfort zone is balancing my camera on a set of rocks, taking my own self-portrait in a foreign country. Around the bar in a local pub sharing stories with strangers as if it's the best drugs around. Getting swept away by strong winds out on the beachside somewhere mid February on Northern shores. Taking notes on a night out in a pub and making up stories about the people around me.
The first part of my journey was situated in Invergordon and Inverness. What was really important for me, was not being a tourist. I didn't want to experience Scotland like so many instagrammers were. That's why I tried to visit hidden gems. Like the beaches around the Cromarty Firth. Thanks to David and Julie of Inchindown Farm, this was a piece of cake.
INVERNESS
The capital of the highlands is quiet and lovely. The only place you should visit for that warm family feeling. I've spent 5 days here and saw the sun embrace the city from every direction. No doubt in my mind that I want to return someday, because even in those 5 days, I haven't had enough time to take it all in.
Travelling using only public transport is a little bit of a gamble around here. You can't always trust Google's timetables, so better to check with locals to be sure. It does give you a chance to learn to relax. Slow down. Eventually you'll get to your - temporarily - destination.
EDINBURGH
As a fan of big cities and urban culture, I looked forward to both Edi and Glasgow the most. Both cities have a different pace. Best thing to do is to get lost. Also, follow the music. And the bookshops. Which I didn't include any photo of. You should discover them yourselves ;-)

Just like in any big city, there was poverty to be found here too. (Edinburgh)

GLASGOW
A city filled with neon lights, high buildings, shops that sell bongs, good coffee, graffiti, fancy cars and contemporary art.
And then, all of a sudden, a man did the perfect, graceful pivot to light his cigarette.
On that note, let's go home.

It's always very cool and froody if you'd give credit when you use my photos. If you'd happen to make something with them, I'm always excited to see the end result.
